Reynolds student Angela Graves wins Richmond Folk Festival Volunteer Award

Volunteer Angela Graves and Team Leader Richard Groover

Selected out of over 60 volunteers, Reynolds student Angela Graves was recently recognized by the Richmond Folk Festival as the 2015 Safety Escorts Top Volunteer. Angela currently serves as the president of the Reynolds Alpha Iota Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and is studying Information Technology.

“During the Festival, Angela worked many extra shifts which are each four hours long,” said Safety Escorts Team Leader Richard Groover. “She additionally got a number of Reynolds PTK members to also volunteer for shifts during the three day event.”

“At any given moment we can have 5,000 people walking on Tredegar Street at the Festival, and Angela helped keep Festival goers safe, escorting vehicles through the crowds - as some vehicles must travel down that street during the event. It is an exhausting job, miles of walking, especially with the Festival seeing over 200,000 people this year,” added Groover. “Angela is a testament of what community service and leadership is all about.”

Congratulations Angela and great work!!
