Reynolds Community College recently awarded over 1,700 degrees and certificates at its 41st Commencement on Sunday, May 11. Reynolds has one formal commencement ceremony each year after the spring semester for students completing certificate or Associate Degree curricula throughout the academic year.

Secretary of Education Anne Holton delivered the commencement speech
highlighting first generation college graduates, those who worked full-time
while they were studying at Reynolds, and those who were parenting or providing
for another loved one while going to college.
“Seeing the faces of our
graduates and the enthusiasm of their families is always one of my personal
favorite moments of the year,” noted Reynolds President Gary Rhodes.
Tiwana Simon addressing the
audience represented the graduates and challenged them to go out and make a
difference in the world and to live out their dreams. Simon will be attending
Old Dominion University in the fall.
